Assessment Centres

An organisation's competitive advantage is dependent on the quality of its employees. Anyone involved in selecting staff needs to have an overall picture of applicants, how they work in practice, how they relate to others and their motivation. We believe that the competence of an individual for any particular role is determined by their knowledge, skills and preferred behaviours.

Assessment Centres provide a broader behaviourally based assessment using a number of carefully designed exercises. Assessors use objective measures to assess candidates' performance in exercises that are specifically designed to critically examine the criteria for selection.

A well designed and managed Assessment Centre will ensure that you pick the best quality recruits who have the potential to drive your company forward. Staff turnover will be reduced and productivity increased by selecting the right people for the job. The costs of recruiting the wrong people are much greater than the cost of an Assessment Centre.

Managers can suffer from mild forms of personality or neurotic disorders. Although the symptoms are mild they can have a disproportionate effect on the person's performance. These individual's may hide these during a traditional interview but our psychologists can assess participant's mental health during Assessment Centre exercises.

Candidates may be familiar with 'off the shelf' exercises, we design exercises that are unique to your company, increasing their face validity and job relatedness. These provide realistic situations to challenge candidates and provide the basis for assessors' observations.

Training
We will train your managers in the objective assessment of people, using interviews and Assessment Centre exercises.

Facilitating the Centre
Our psychologists can facilitate the centre providing assistance and advice to your own assessors. If your own managers are too busy we can also provide fully trained and experienced assessors.
